Violets Lane Solar Farm (Stocking Pelham)

What is being proposed?

A 49.9MW solar farm on 148 acres of productive farm land.

Where is the proposed development?

The Western boundary of the site is directly beside Violets Lane.  Furneux Pelham is to the South of the site and Ginns Road, Stocking Pelham is to the East of the site.  The development will extend North to Washall Green.  See the map above.

Who is the developer?

The developer is Renewable Connections.  Renewable Connections is a business which focusses on “investors looking for attractive financial returns”

Renewable Connections is owned by Armstrong Capital Management Limited (“Armstrong”) which is owned by 9 private investors.  Armstrong has recently entered into a joint venture with Copenhagen based European Energy A/S with a view to funding 500 MW of solar developments and battery in the UK.

A number of UK sites are currently being developed by Renewable Connections see: https://www.renewableconnections.co.uk/our-sites/

How far advanced are these proposals?

Proposals are at an early stage.  Renewable Connections say that they have “commenced engagement with Brent Pelham, Furneux Pelham and Stocking Pelham parish councils to brief them on our development timelines and obtain any feedback”.

The next stages will be a community consultation and to apply to East Herts DC for a screening opinion which will determine whether a full environmental impact assessment is required.
