What is being proposed?
Construction of a 50MW battery energy storage system (BESS) facility on approximately 3.5 acres of productive agricultural land.
The Proposed Development will comprise a Main Compound incorporating:
the BESS facility and associated ancillary infrastructure;
a Customer High Voltage Infrastructure Compound;
a Distribution Network Operator Infrastructure Compound; and
a DNO Switchroom and Metering Cabinet.

Who is the developer?
The developer is Cambridge Power. The proposed owned of the battery facility is Pelham Power Limited which is owned by Pigeon Investment Management Ltd. Pigeon Investment Management states that its aim is to “create value for investors from strategic land, commercial property, power, renewables and other opportunities”.
How far advanced are these proposals?
In April 2021, Cambridge Power applied to East Herts District Council for permission to build the BESS. The planning application number is 3/21/0969/FUL.
